Kussum is a final-year Biology major undergraduate student at Tri Chandra Multiple Campus in Nepal. Her academic focus encompasses various fields within biological sciences, including cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, and genetics, with a particular emphasis on molecular genetics and bioinformatics. She is motivated by the potential of STEM disciplines to address complex global issues. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is involved in STEM education initiatives, primarily working with students from public schools across Nepal. As the STEM Training and Curriculum Lead at Udeshya: Girls in STEM, Kussum develops innovative curricula integrating Design Thinking into STEM education. Her approach incorporates Design Thinking methodologies to tackle community challenges, emphasizing the utilization of local resources for innovative problem-solving. She is particularly passionate about promoting STEM careers among girls and women from rural areas of Nepal. Kussum strongly believes in the power of mentorship and advocacy, and is committed to supporting and guiding young research enthusiasts. She has previously successfully facilitated the implementation of 55+ social impact projects led by young students in their communities as a Program Coordinator for 3 cohorts at Aakar Nepal. Her motivation to join Nepal Digital Rights School 2024 comes from her own experience as a user and an observer. She believes digital literacy is crucial in this tech-led world where access to information, safety, expression and resources are essential for the promotion and advocacy for digital rights so that humans can enjoy their rights equally in the digital space as they do in the physical world.
