Short Bio

My name is Sandhya Thapa. I am from Kathmandu, Nepal. Kathmandu is a capital city of Nepal where I reside with my family. With a robust academic background, I have an MPhil in English and a master's degree in Humanities & Social Sciences. I have been a dedicated lecturer at Ambition College since 2022 and also teaches at Camad College. My teaching expertise spans Business Communication, English Literature, Media & Public Relations, Sociology, and Visual Arts. I have experience and affiliation in the media and educational institutions. My media experience is extensive, including roles as a Communication & Media Manager at Gopikrishna Kamakhya Media Company & Greencity Hospital and senior positions at various radio and television stations, including Star F.M., Gopi Krishna F.M., and T.V Filmy as an Executive producer and TV Host. I have been recognized for her work with awards such as the Best Employee of the Year at Star F.M. and accoladed from the Film Journalist Association Nepal .

I have been teaching since 2015. I have had experience of teaching compulsory and major English to High School Students and Bachelor's level.  Currently, I am working for a private college named Ambition as a lecturer of English Courses. I teach a course that comes under Compulsory English, known as Business Communication in bachelor's level (BBS second year). I also teach Optional English which is also known as Major English in Nepal. The course name goes by the name of Visual Arts for BASW third year. I also teach Prose: Essays and Short Stories and another course Reading and Responding to Poetry for BASW Second year. I also teach at Camad College. I teach an elective course, known as Media and Public Relation for BBA 7th semester and Sociology for BBA 3rd year.

Other professional training I have had are computer training, proposal writing, Script writing, M.C(Master of Ceremony), Basic Journalism, Psycho-social Support Training Course, Training on Election And Media, 2017 Seminar on Radio & Television for Senior Techniques Management in China, South Asian Workshop on Social Transformation towards Peace Building in Bangladesh, Inter Regional Seminar Toward A Just Egalitarian & Peaceful Society, 2023 in Thailand, Workshop on Conducting Migration Research In Nepal and Badminton Asia 2024 South Asia Regional Gender Equity & Women’s Empowerment Workshop in Pakistan. These training have groomed me to enhance my skill in the field of academic career and journalism.

My aspiration to join Digital Rights class is to learn lead a digitally wellbeing. I want to know the rights and responsibilities that come together at the virtual world. Since, I work as a prosumer I make contents for social media as well, I want to learn the basics of what I should and shouldn’t do while posting my contents. My concern also lies in the kinds of information I will extend in the class such as business communication and Media & PR. Online media are indispensable from the subjects I teach so it is crucial for me to get updated with the information such as policy on digital safety, challenges and digital literacy.
